SMALL CATTAIL 25 in

An angel holds a drawing tablet from which it tears out sheets one after the other, which are then carried away by the wind and waves. These sheets, which are mirror polished to reflect the most light, represent paintings, works of art, that fly away from the creator’s hand in order to illuminate the life of people. The cattail is blue, symbolizing the different gaze that the artist rests on the world. The artist interprets reality, giving it another colour, new significance.

The swaying effect of the stem intensifies the impression of movement, of paintings flying away.

Treatment: Patinated bronze (25 in/63.5 cm) on a granite base. The skin has been treated with iron nitrate and the cattail with copper nitrate. The sheets and waves in the water are mirror polished and coloured using different acids.
